OBITUARY
Addie Curtis McMahan, daughter of Jas. F. and Nancy J. Curtis, was born November 27th, 1847, in Scott County near Manchester, Ill., and departed this life October 27, 1922, after a brief illness at the age of 74 years and 11 days.
She was united in marriage with William McMahan, October 23rd 1866 at the old home. Her husband preceded her in death September 29th, 1915. To this union were born eight children, namely: Otis, deceased; Lena wife of W. L. Morgan, Camden, Ark.; Anna, wife of H. M. Groves, Edwardsville, Ill.; Nannie, wife of Samuel Hays, North Otter; Henry, deceased; Harvey, residing at home; Herman of Camden, Ark and Maude, wife of C. A. Ohmart of Girard, Ill. Besides these she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Blevins and Mrs. Billings of Manchester, Ill.; two brothers Cleonis and Douglas, to mourn her departure, also twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of friends survive her.
She united with the Christian Church at the age of fourteen years, and was faithful until God called her.
She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a kind neighbor, beloved by all who knew her, with her always cheering word and happy face. Never tiring in her efforts to make others happy.
Dear Mother we miss you, with your face so sweet, The home seems so lonely without you to greet. God said, Come home, Mother, Your toils are all o'er, Soon, soon we will meet On Eternity's shore.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 30th at 10:20 a.m. conducted by Rev. Thos. G. Bachelor. After a brief service of song and prayer before leaving the home, the remains were taken to the Christian Church in Girard, where many friends were gathered to pay the last sad rite of loving respect. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Girard Cemetery.

Leitze, Mrs. Annie Blevins, Mr and Mrs. John Robinson, Miss Mable Garvin, Mrs. Kate Hubble, Mr. and Mrs. George Blevins all of Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Helms and daughter of Roodhouse; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sykes of Whitehall; Leonard Robinson of Normal; Frank Curtis and Mrs. Lois Hart of Parsons, Kan; Ivan Hays of Pana; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Groves and family of Edwardsville and Mrs. Will Morgan and Herman McMahan of Camden, Arkansas.
