Enlisting in the U.S. Navy, John proudly served his country during World War II.
John married Edith Grace Savage on August 9, 1956, at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, MN. Because Edith was not Catholic, the union was considered a "mixed marriage," so their ceremony was held in the Sacristy, where mixed marriages were performed. John and Edith's wedding reception was a very nice yard party hosted at the Minneapolis home of John's parents, John and Maria Graziano. The couple were happily married for 48 years, until John passed away in 2004.
An active member of the VFW and the Military Order of the Cooties, good-natured John was well regarded by all who knew him. John never met a stranger and seemed to be always smiling, working for many years as a bartender at Halek's Bar in Minneapolis, the perfect job for such a naturally friendly guy. An avid Minnesota sports fan, John also occasionally worked as an usher at Minneapolis' Metrodome, loving that he could experience so many home games for his favorite teams, the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, in person.
John was preceded in death by his dear wife Edith, parents, Giovanni (John) and Maria Graziano, brother Vincenzo, and sisters Vincenza and Jennie. John left to cherish his memory two sisters, four brothers, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was a true gentleman who is well-remembered and will be forever missed. May you rest in heavenly peace, Johnny. ❤
