Daughter of David H. Hawkins and Prudence Tuthill, wife of William Avery, whom she married on November 12, 1878 in East Patchogue, NY.

In 1880, Prudence Avery, aged 52, was shown living in Brookhaven, NY with husband William Avery, aged 66. Her husband was shown to be farmer.

Obituary - Greenport, February 18, Mrs. Prudence A. Avery, aged 87 years. Interment at Patchogue.

The will of Prudence Ann Avery, late of South Haven, disposes of an estate valued at $2,500 personal and $1,500 real. Wesley D. Hawkins, nephew of Mr. Vernon, and Frances F. Raynor, niece, of Greenport, are given $1,000 each and all furniture. The executors are directed to sell the real estate at public auction and divide proceeds among the following nieces and nephews; Wesley D. Hawkins, Nathaniel T. Hawkins, of Manhattan; Hewlett A. Robinsin and Agnes Hawkins, East Patchogue; and Imogene Hawkins, Newburgh. The residue of the personal property is bequeathed to Wesley D. Hawkins and Frances F. Raynor.

Prudence H. Avery was buried by the Robertaccio Funeral Home.
