CLARE-- A former Clare resident, Louie L. Calkins, 57, died June 29 in Grand Rapids, and was to be buried Tuesday in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Calkins, a food service executive, died at his home, in a Grand Rapids suburb. He had been in that area for 40 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Vandertie of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. George Shayler, Clare, a brother, Donald Calkins of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral services were scheduled to be held from the Stephenson-Doherty Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Hilliard officiating. Clare Sentinel dated 4 July 1973 (Thanks, Tom, for this obituary!)
