May Spencer, Teacher, Dies

Miss May Spencer, 86, a resident of the Christian Buehler Memorial Home for the last 21 years, died there at 6:15 a. m. Sunday.

Miss Spencer was a retired school teacher. She taught for many years in grade schools near Galesburg and had a large class of boys whose progress she followed with great interest.

The last of her family, Miss Spencer was born in Burns Township, Henry County, Feb. 18, 1868. She was the daughter of Henry Wilson and Caroline Brace Spencer. A Peoria resident for 34 years, she was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Three sisters preceded her in death, the last one being Miss Dell Spencer, who died at the Buehler Home last June 27.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p .m. Tuesday at the Guass Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. W. Harold Loyd of First Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 to 9 p. m. today.
