Elmira Fisher was born January 20, 1845 in Fulton County, Pennsylvania to Job Fisher and Rebekah Truax Fisher. After the Civil War the family moved to Coles County, Illinois, (Oakland) then to Franklin County, Kansas and then to Harvey County, Kansas, in 1870.
Elmira married Francis T. Fost at Walton, Kansas Oct. 22, 1874. They had six children between 1876 and 1889, Harriet, Job, Carrie, Lucretia, Andrew, and Benjamin.
The family lived on farms in eastern Harvey and western Marion counties. When Francis quit farming the family moved into Peabody. Elmira died Nov. 4, 1905 at her residence immediately south of Prairie Lawn cemetery, at age 60.
