HORACE HENTY

Horace Henty, an aged and highly respected resident of South Avon passed away at 11 o'clock last Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Rathbun, with whom he had made his home for the past four years.

Mr. Henty, a native of Headcorn, Kent, England, was born December 4, 1823. On May 27, 1844, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Luckhurst. To them eight children were born. A few years after their marriage Mr. Henty became a preacher of the Methodist Episcopal Church and continued as one for about twenty years.

In 1872, Mr. and Mrs. Henty came to America and settled in Avon where they have since resided, the first five years of life here, deceased spent preaching in schools and halls in villages hereabouts. Later he devoted his time to agricultural pursuits, and up until a few years ago was actively engaged in them.

Nearly two years ago he had a shock and for a time his life was despaired of, but he finally recovered sufficiently to be about and was only confined to his bed two weeks during his last illness.

His survivors are his wife who is in very feeble health and hardly, realizes her loss, one son, Horace J. Henty and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Rathbun, all of Avon.

The funeral services were held at the home, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. J. W. Allatt of the Methodist Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was made in East Avon Cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. Thomas Pearson, a son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Pearson and John Pearson, Mrs. Thomas Orman, Mrs. Alice Chase, all of Rochester, Mrs. Luther Blakeley of Minnesota and Mrs. Harriet Hooker of Lima.

Mr. Henty was a good neighbor, a kind and loving father and we extend sympathy to the bereaved members of the family.
