C. W. SPRAGUE, OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Chester W. Sprague, for many years a resident of Clare county, passed away at his home in Clare after a prolonged illness.

He was born son of Henry and Cordiela Sprague in the year of 1877 in Macomb County and passed away Sunday February 28, 1954 at the age of 77 years.

He came to Clare County at the age of seven and spent the rest of his life in this area.

During his early life he was a farmer in Greenwood township and was later a well known water well driller for many years. He moved with his family to Clare in 1928.

He is survived by his widow Bertha and eight children: Harold, of Harrison, Bernie of Pontiac, Ernest of Clare, Mrs. Dorothy Denton of Vernon township; Mrs. Irene Mussell of Clare, Mrs. Lucille Beadle of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Eunice Williams of Chelsea, Donald of Ann Arbor, one brother Arthur of Greenwood township, a sister, Mrs. Maude Giers of Drayton Plains, a cousin Ella Sprague, of Greenwood township; twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends in Clare.

Funeral services were held from the Stephenson Funeral Home Wednesday March 3rd at three o'clock with Rev. Leslie J. Nevins officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were from Midland, McBain, Pontiac, Drayton Plains, Lansing, Harrison, Mt, Pleasant and Saginaw.
