On 2 Dec. 1880, John married Rebecca Holem in Marshall Co., Indiana. They had six children together--Nettie M. (1883-1934) who would marry Harry Hampton, Edward "Eddie" E. (1885-1908), Lora A. (1887-1897), Lulu A. (1890-1897), Jesse E. (1896-1964) and an unknown male child who died in infancy before 1908.
Following Rebecca's death on 17 June 1909, John married Clara Churchill on 22 May 1911 in South Bend, Indiana. No children were born to this union.
In 1917 at the age of 58, John married Sarah E Schotz in St. Joseph, Berrien, Michigan, on 29 June 1917. In the 1920 US Census, they listed their baby, Ethel Fay and Sarah's children from her previous marriage: Frederick W, Arthur C, and Nettie E Schotz and were living in Plymouth, Indiana.
The 1930 US Census finds John Crawford seventy-two and living alone in Plymouth, Indiana. 1930 also finds Sarah E remarried to a man named Arthur J Reed and living in Portland, Oregon, with John's daughter, Ethel Fay.
John Crawford died in May of 1934, two months after his daughter (Nettie Hampton) died so that he outlived all of his seven children except for one son, Jesse E. and Ethel Fay.
