Francis E. Conwell, 81, Monticello

Francis E. Conwell, 81, 5687 E Ind. 16, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 1997 at Jasper County Memorial Hospital.

He was born at Buffalo on February 28, 1916, to Clarence and Maude Wheeton Conwell. He married Doris Connell on October 2, 1943, in Monticello. She survives.

He was a1935 graduate of Buffalo High School, and had lived most of his life in the Buffalo community.

He was a former member and president of the Monon Eagles Lodge.

He was retired after 42 years of service with the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, Randall of Chalmers, and Phillip and Greg, both of Buffalo ; two brothers, Cleon of Rochester and Thomas "Skeeter" of Noblesville; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

One sister is deceased.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Friday, at Kellogg Funeral Home, the Rev. Elmo Boze officiating, Visitation will be from 4:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. At 8 p.m. Friday, the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service.

Burial will be in the Hughes Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department.
