---Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson who died Sunday night, were held from the Baptist Church here Monday afternoon at 2:00, conducted by Rev. Cleve Hardgrove. Burial was made at Mt. Tabor, east of Atlanta. Four of her sons, John W., J. Mon, Roy, Ray and two grandsons, Logan and Joe Thompson, were the pallbearers.
---Elizabeth Virginia Thompson, daughter of John and Helen V. Trout, was born March 8, 1859 near La Plata and died at the home of her son, John W. Thompson, Sunday, October 29, 1939.
---She was united in marriage to Joseph Thompson on February, 1876. To this union were born six children, all of whom survive. They are Sidney of Newport Beach, California, James Monroe of Kirksville, John W. of La Plata, Roy of Chicago, Ray of Ft. Madison and one daughter, Mrs. Cleve Hardgrove of Brookfield.
---There are also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren preceded her in death. Two brothers, Joe Trout of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Charles Trout of Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Robert Tompkins of Edinburgh, Texas, Mrs. C.A. McHenry of Macon, Mrs. Laura Tompkins of La Plata and Mrs. Robert Vandiver of Edina, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends here and at Brookfield.
---Her husband preceded her in death November 26, 1910.
---At an early age she was converted and joined the Presbyterian Church at New Harmony. Later she united with the Baptist Church at Sue City. She moved her membership to La Plata and at the time of her death she was a member of the Park Baptist Church at Brookfield and enjoyed the Dorcus Class of which she was a faithful member.
