Miriam “Molly” Douglas, 94, of Wilson, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Winona Health.


Miriam Catherine was born Jan. 27, 1918, to Archie and Hazel (Anderson) Milton in Waukegan, Ill. Growing up, she attended school through the eighth grade.


On March 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to Donald Douglas. This union was blessed with three children: Kenneth, Carl and Catherine.


Molly worked at Winona Knitting Mills as well as helping her husband and family on the farm. She made a loving home and took great pride in her family. Molly was a member of Ridgeway-Witoka United Methodist Church. She was talented at quilting, doing upholstery work, and refinishing wood furniture. Molly enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in the garden. She was known for baking delicious apple pies and canning pickles. Molly will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.


Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kenneth (Kathryn) Douglas of Grantsburg, Wis.; and Catherine (Dennis) Larsen of Elk River, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Jean Douglas of Stockton, Minn.; grandchildren, Kim, Kenny, Krissy, Keith, Jodi, Donald, Tina, Deana and Jeff; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Soppa of Arcadia, Wis., Maida Smith of Houston, Minn.; and sister-in-law; Virginia Milton of Winona; other extended family and many friends.


Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on Jan. 21, 1971; son, Carl; grandson, Dani Douglas; parents; sister, Doris Schossow; and brother, Charles Milton.


Funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Ridgeway-Witoka United Methodist Church in Ridgeway, Minn., with the Rev. James Strom presiding. Visitation will take place Friday, Aug. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:45 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Witoka Cemetery in Witoka, Minn.
