LaFAYETTE -- Mr. Edgar Leverett, 86, of LaFayette died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Magnolia Manor.

Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at the LaFayette City Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Whitson officiating.

Mr. Leverett is survived by two daughters, Martha (Jim) Adams of Kershaw, S.C. and Harriet (Allen) Jones of LaFayette; his son, the Rev. Tom (Judy) Leverett of LaFayette; two sisters, Dorothy (Ed Sr.) Allen and Marjorie Ruth Roberts, both of LaFayette; three brothers, Nathan (Marie) Leverett and Curtis (Nell) Leverett, both of LaFayette and Joe (Libba) Leverett of Snellville, Ga.; four grandsons; and three great-grandsons.

Born July 11, 1913, in Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Leverett was a member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette. He worked at WestPoint Pepperell's Lanett Bleachery and Dye Works, The Birdsey Feed Mill, was an agent for Liberty National Life Insurance and retired from the LaFayette Post Office. Mr. Leverett was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He was a 50 year member of the Solomon Lodge #74 F&AM.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette.

The family respectfully declines the gift of flowers and asks that memorial be made to First Baptist Church of LaFayette Music/Piano Fund in memory of Mr. Leverett.

Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette is handling arrangements.
