Nobility. Comte de Savoie, Aosta, Maurienne and Chablais, Marchese di Susa. Born the eldest son of Othon of Savoy and Adelaide de Torino. He married Agnes de Poitou, a daughter of Guillaume V and niece of Empress Agnes in 1064. He succeeded his father in 1057 but remained under his mothers regency until 1064.
