Emil Abitz, 62, of Onaga passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon. He suffered a stroke while at work at his home Monday morning and was take to the hospital where he died about 5:00 o'clock.
Mr. Abitz was born February 9, 1901 near Wheaton. He was actively engaged in excavation construction at the time of his death, and was also engaged in farming. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Duluth.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Orville Wege, Marysville and Mrs. Almon Brunkow, Jr. of St. Charles, Mo.; one son Donald of Topeka; two brothers, Richard, of Duluth, and Otto of Wheaton; five sisters, Mrs. Esther Bosse and Mrs. Lorna Taylor both of Wamego, Mrs. Emma Brunkow and Mrs. Marie Zabel, both of Onaga, and Mrs. Ida Howell of Topeka, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services are being held today, October 10, at 2:00 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Duluth. Interment will be in Onaga Cemetery.

Emil Frank Abitz, son of the late Herman and Emilie Abitz, was born February 9,1901, on a farm northeast of Wheaton. He passed away at Community Hospital at Onaga, October 7, 1963, at the age of 62 years, seven months and 29 days. On April 7, 1901, he was baptized in the name of the Triune God by Pastor Theodore J. Juengel. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on Palm Sunday, march 28, 1915, by Pastor A. G. Degner at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Duluth, Kansas. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and lived here all his life. On January 27, 1927, he was united in marriage to Laura Hetzler. To this union two daughters and one son were born.
He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Laura, of Onaga; two daughters, Dorene Wege of Marysville, and Verda Brunkow of St. Charles, Mo., one son, Donald, of the home; two sons-in-law and six grandchildren; two brothers, Richard, of Duluth, and Otto of Wheaton; five sisters, Esther Bosse and Lorna Taylor of Wamego, Emma Brunkow and Marie Zabel of Onaga, and Ida Howell of Topeka; nine brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edwin, and two sisters, Louise and Leona, who died in infancy.
Mr. Abitz' body was laid to rest in the Onaga cemetery, October 10, 1963. The funeral service was conducted at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m.
