Mrs. Marie Zabel, 72, Dies in Topeka
Mrs. Marie M. Zabel, 72, of rural Onaga died Monday, October 3 at a Topeka hospital.
She had been ill several weeks.
The daughter of Herman and Amelia Honig Abitz, she was born August 26, 1911 at Wheaton and attended Wheaton and Duluth schools.
Mrs. Zabel was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Duluth and the Ladies Aid and Parents' Club at the church. She was a vice-president of Century Elevator Corporation, Albuquerque, N.M.
She was married to Raymond Zabel on February 14, 1934, at Duluth. He died October 1, 1976. A son, Charles Zabel, died in 1968.
Survivors include a son, Victor Zabel, Albuquerque, N. M.; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley O'Roke, Winchester, Mrs. Lila Griggs, Salina, and Mrs. Emmalie Hosey, Topeka; a brother, Richard Abitz, Onaga; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Brunkow, Onaga, Mrs. Lorna Taylor, Wamego and Mrs. Ida Howell, Topeka; ten grandchildren ad one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Duluth. Burial will be in Onaga Cemetery.
