David and Susannah's son Everard C. McCoy, born abt 1867 in Highland Co, OH, was a widower, age 73, living in Bainville, Roosevelt Co, Montana, in the 1940 Federal Census. In 1920, when he was living in Cass Co, ND, Everard was already widowed by had children living with him: Lafrances, age 15, born ND, and Iolce (so transcribed/indexed on FamilySearch), age 12, born ND. When did he die, and where is he buried? [Lafrances was LaFrances McCoy Sullivan, age 65, when she died in/near Billings Montana, in Aug 1969 (obit published in Billings Gazette on Aug 26, 1969).]

The linking below to Daniel McCoy and Sarah McKenzie McCoy as David's parents is tentative. Many thanks to Find A Grave contributor Jamie Baker for suggesting that Daniel and Sarah may be David's parents. According to the 1880 census, David's father was born in Maryland and his mother was born in Virginia. That fits with the 1870 census, which says that Daniel was born in Maryland and that Sarah was born in Virginia. Additional evidence (either to confirm the relationship or to refute it) would be welcome.

Researchers have posted on Ancestry 2 different sets of parents for David Edley McCoy: Daniel and Sarah McCoy and Arthur and Sarah Edley McCoy. [This needs to be corrected!.] Also, the marriage of Daniel and Sarah Slaughter is documented as happening in Rockbridge, VA,in 1814. A second marriage, to Sarah Jane McKenzie in 1830, is also reported on Ancestry as happening in Baltimore, MD. Some have combined the names as Sarah Jane McKenzie Slaughter.
