Mrs. Phillip (Katherine) Depperschmidt, daughter of Pius Leiker and Margaret Weber, was born Nov. 2, 1903, at Victoria, Kans. She died July 28, 1971, at the age of 67, at the Logan County hospital after a lingering illness.

Jan. 24, 1922, she was untied in the holy sacrament of matrimony to Phillip J. Depperschmidt at Park, Kans. They were blessed with 9 children, 3 sons and 6 daughters. They are Edwin, Mrs. Roxie (Bernadine) Pomarico, Lillian Walker, Mrs. J. E. (Alvera) Jackson, Mrs. George (Joan) Albers, Ronald, Mrs. David (Aileen) Flipse, Leroy, and Mrs. Leonard (Judith) Nelke. All of the children reside in or around Denver except Joan whose home is in Oakley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, her children, 5 sons-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law, and 41 grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Victoria Feldt, Hays, and Mrs. Rose Pingle, Russell, a brother, John Leiker, Salina, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church, Oakley, on Friday afternoon, July 30, at 3:00. The Rev. Joseph Scheetz officiated at the mass.

Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery with the Hall-Koster Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
