Lawrence Elmer Fleener, Sr., 80 died September 6, at the Franklin Nursing Home in Franklin, Indiana. He had died following an extended illness. A Brown County native, Fleener had lived in the Franklin area for 25 years. He was born on June 12, 1896 to Oscar and Cora (Barrick) Fleener in Brown County. He was married in Brown County to Cora Dell Brummett, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded death by a son and a daughter. Before he retired Fleener had been employed by the Wheeler Jewelry store and Holthouse Furniture Company in Franklin. He had been a member of the Wesleyan Church. Fleener is survived by three sons, Maurice Fleener of Martinsville, Mickey Fleener of Mooresville, and Lawrence Fleener, Jr. of Mooresville. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were September 10 at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home. Burial was at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
