Edgar Boyd Rhea, 69, a resident of Jarrell for 26 years, died Wednesday, November 24, 1993, in Georgetown. He was a former resident of Libery Hill.

Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, November 27, at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Georgetown. Dr. Max Johnson was to officiate and burial was to follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown.

He was born in Shiloh near Thrall, Texas, on June 30, 1924, to Edgar Milton and Ida Mae (Walker) Rhea. He married Lora Lenora Lay on October 17, 1948, in Lexington, Texas. He was affiliated with the Baptist church and was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association , AARP, and was a Little League Baseball coach for a number of years. He retired in May 1988 after serving 15 years with the Liberty Hill school system as a teacher. He has been in the teaching profession for 40 years.

Surviving Rhea are his wife, Lora Rhea of Jarrell; daughter Suzan Gibbs and husband Chuck of Llano; sons, Donald Wayne Rhea, Billy Boyd Rhea, Bobby Lee Rhea and wife Debbie, and Keith Lynn Rhea and wife Cheryl, all of Jarrell: sisters, Quilla Mae Ischy of Georgetown, Blanche Davis of Madison, Illinois, and Phern Matthes and husband Edward of Bay City; six grandchildren: Sharon Abbott, Daniel Wayne Rhea, Kenneth Lee Rhea, Ryan Gibbs, Mark Rhea, and Ashton Rhea; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Preceding Rhea in death were one sister, LaVerne Holland, and five brothers, Grady, Orville, O.M., Cecil, and Alton.
