Gladys Vashti (Mann) Jones, 39, wife of Jasper Wilson Jones, died about 10:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 02, 1946 at her home, 205 1/2 South First Street, Ponca City, Oklahoma. She had been suffering from undulant fever for several years, and had been critically ill for about ten days.

Gladys was born April 14, 1906 near Paris, Lamar County, Texas. She was the daughter of Zolectus Toby and Emily Otelia (Peek) Mann. She spent most of her childhood in the Lamar County, Texas area.

On May 18, 1942 Gladys married Jasper Wilson Jones in Kingfisher, Oklahoma with Pastor Virgil W. Russell with the Methodist Congregational Church officiating. They later moved to Enid, Oklahoma where they operated a service station for several years. About a year ago, they moved to Ponca City and they opened a second hand clothing store at 205 1/2 South First Street.

Survivors include her husband Jasper and a small son, Dale; her mother Mrs. Emily Otelia Mann, St Louis, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Irene B. Thompkins, Oakley Union, Texas and Mrs. Vera G. Wood, St Louis, Oklahoma; two brothers, Romalos Fuller Mann, Seminole, Oklahoma and Lotus Lee Mann, Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, April 04, 1946 in the Miles Memorial Chapel in Ponca City with the Rev. Troy V. Turner, pastor of the Church of God officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Guy Bailey, George Murray, C. Martin, Joe Dodson, Glenn Lyons and E.G. Hamlin. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City.
