A native of Greenville County, daughter of the late Perry Smiley and Flora (Moon) Hardin, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a brother, William S. Harbin and two sisters, Penny Ballew and Joye Massey.
Mrs. McCarter was predeceased by her first husband, Marion Roberson and four sisters, Christine Davidson, Mildred Vest, Glen Rodgers and Carrie Love.
Graveside services were held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Rance Sprayberry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial could be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 206 N. Franklin Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
