TRAVELERS REST - Perry Smiley Harbin, 72, of Rt. 1, Travelers Rest, died Thursday at 10:45 p.m. in a veterans hospital in Oteen, N.C., after 14 months of illness.
Native of the Milford community, son of the late J. P. and Florence Barbare Harbin, he lived in the Locust Hill community 37 years, was a veteran of World War I and a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Flora Moon Harbin; seven daughters, Mrs. Mildred Vest, Mrs. Charles (Penny) Balliew and Mrs. Henry (Glen) Rodgers of Greenville, Mrs. Marion (Lorene) Roberson and Mrs. Harold (Christine) Davidson of Greer, Mrs. Charles (Corrie) Ross of Tulsa, Okla., and Miss Joy Harbin of the home; a son, William S. Harbin of Rt. 3, Taylors; three sisters, Mrs. Bess Kool of Columbia, Mrs. J. B. (Raeford) Hall of Greenville and Mrs. Matthew (Leila) Brookshire of Greer; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Locust Hill Baptist Church by Rev. W. J. Jordan, Rev. James Thompson and Rev. John Marchbanks. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Jimmy, Billy, and Marshall Harbin, James Brookshire, Ben Bolt and Conway Edwards.
The body is at Wood Mortuary, Greer, and will be placed in the church Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
