Bartelme Dies Following Fall
Former Councilman Succumbs To Injury
Michael Bartelme, 63, 716 South 18th street, former member of the city council, died at noon today at the Holy Family hospital of injuries suffered in a fall at his home Saturday evening. A veteran employee of the Manitowoc Ship Building company, he had been employed in recent weeks as a sewer inspector on the Washington street repaving job.
Mr. Bartelme fell down a stairway at his home and was moved to the hospital. His physician said death was due to a broken neck. He retired from employment at the shipyards two years ago after 43 years service. He served four years in the council as a fifth ward alderman, retiring in 1936.
Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced Wednesday. The body is at the Pfeffer funeral home. He is survived by his wife and 11 children.
