Delbert Stewart 69, died Friday morning at Community Hospital in Garland. He was born Jan. 22, 1911 in Garrett, the son of Emery and Ida Slagle Stewart. He was reared in Garrett and graduated from Garrett High School in 1928. In 1928 he went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad. On March 7, 1930 he was married to Miss Dora Johnson of Ennis and after their marriage they lived in Ennis. Mr. Stewart retired from the railroad in 1967. He was a member of Garrett Church of Christ. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife; two sons Mike Stewart, Garland and Jack Stewart, San Antonio; two brothers Ted Stewart, Ennis and Ernest Stewart, Garrett; one sister Mrs. J.D. Simpson, Garrett and five grandchildren. The funeral service for Delbert Stewart, 69, of 1609 Nichols, was held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Keever Chapel with John L. Sullivan, minister of the Garrett Church of Christ, and Harry Lee Groves of Houston officiating. Interment was in Myrtle Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Larry Sullivan, Foxy Peyton, E.R. Bryant, Herman Mounts, Marvin Roden and Ron Daniels of San Antonio.
