Major Franklin A.G. Gearing
Served with Co. L 1st Texas Inf. CSA during the Civil War of 1861-65, He enlisted as a Private in Co. L in 1861 and was the rank of Major by April of 1865.
After his war service he moved to Virginia City Nevada were he was a local business man and stock broker.
He died Sept. 1st 1921 at age 81 and was laid to rest in the Masonic Section of the Virginia City Cemetery.
Unfortunately his grave stone has been stolen by vandals so at this moment his grave is now unmarked. (The Sons of Confederate Veterans of America are looking into getting him a new stone) The attached photo of Major Gearing is courtesy of the former VC Wild West museum.

Update 2011 It appears his orginal stone has been found and put back in its original spot.
