Herald Coaster, April 22, 1962:

Funeral services for Cecil C. Freund, 62, of Needville, were held at 4 p.m. Friday from the Needville Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. George Olsen, officiating. Interment was in the Needville Public Cemetery.

Mr. Freund passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. He was a native of Oklahoma but moved to Needville about 40 years ago from Garvin, Okla. He was a member of the Needville Methodist Church. He was a farmer.

Included among his survivors are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Freund of Needville; three sons, James Freund of Needville, Cecil Freund of Houston, Homer L. Freund of Fairbanks, Alaska; three brothers, Troy of Needville, Robert of Houston, T. M. of Cat Springs; three sisters, Mrs. A. J. Allen of Damon, Mrs. Floyd Coates of Houston, Mrs. Ollie Ives of Idabel, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Troy Allen Freund, Gene Freund, Raymond Freund, James McAfferty, Leonard McAfferty, and James Ives.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Garmany and Company Funeral Directors of Needville.
