Robert Freund, 86, of Jasper died Saturday, May 24, 2003.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Fern Springs Cemetery. Steve Brakefield sang 'How Great Thou Art' with Ann Rae and Linda Laird accompanying him with music.
He retired from Cameron Iron Works after 40 years of service and was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Carbon Hill. His grandfather was William Henry Harrison Crockett, a colonel in the Confederate Army and his great-great-grandfather was Davy Crockett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta McGough Freund; mother, Nora Crockett Freund; father, George Ace Freund; sisters, Bertie Ives, Nettie Brumbelow and Ann Lee; and brothers, Bill, Tazel, Cecil, Troy and Daniel Freund.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Cleo Mitchell; brother-in-law, L.C. McGough; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Glenda Gaines, Lorene Kimbrell and Bill and Becky Hodgson.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Brown, Kenneth Keeton, Tim Thomas, Donald Laird, Herman Mays and Carson Leonhardt.
Taylor Keeton said of Mr. Freund, 'Mr. Freund is my Freund,' and that was true of all who knew him.
