Mrs. Adron Dendy of Montpelier Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Lorene Dendy, 55, were conducted Saturday, March 27 at 10 am from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Atkins and Rev. David Mahaffey officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Nancy Cliett.

Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery with Calvert Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dendy, a resident of the Montpelier community, died Thursday evening, March 25, at Ivy Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Chickasaw county, she was the daughter of the late John David Dendy and the late Betty Harrington Dendy. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and had lived in Montpelier for 13 years.

Survivors include her husband, Adron Dendy, of Montpelier; five son, James E (Pete) Dendy of Montpelier, Marion E Dendy, of Cairo, T A Dendy of Cedar Bluff, and Phillip D Dendy and Douglas L Dendy, both of Pine Bluff; three daughters, Mrs. Carley McMullin of Columbus, and Mrs. Billy Joe Eaton and Mrs. Lonnie Brand both of Montpelier; four brothers, Marvin Dendy, of Fall River, Mass., and Avery Dendy, Dewitt Dendy and John Thomas Dendy, all of Woodland; one sister, Mrs. T C Criddle, of Montpelier; and six grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Jack Mosley, Roy Jackson Russell, Hubert Eaton, Bill White, Joe Chestnut and Marvin D Brock.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. T N Braddock, Dr. R T Lott, Frank Campbell, Jr., Larry White, Ottie White, T C Criddle and Benny Clark.

Ladies of the Montpelier community served as the flower committee.
