Hoyed "Bill" Chittum, Jr., 83, of Vesuvius, died at his home Saturday, June 14, 2008.
He was born June 5, 1925 in Fairfield, a son of the late Hoyed Chittum, Sr. and Edith Camper Chittum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great grandchild of Larry and Rosa Chittum; two brothers: Walda Chittum and Melvin Chittum; and one sister, Gayola Ogdon.
Surviving is the mother of his children, Hortense Chittum; his children: Burton Chittum, Vesuvius; Larry Chittum, Lexington; Rhonda Jones, Blairs, VA; Violet Pryor, Bedford; Teresa Chittum, Roanoke; Timoty Chittum, Danville; and Adam Chittum, Roanoke; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; brothers and sisters: Irene Semerolas, Buena Vista; Linwood Chittum, Lexington; Sarah Camper, Fincastle; and Patricia O'Keefe, Ft. Wayne, IN.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008 in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his granddaughter, Pamela Chittum Conley, 516 Woodland Ave., Buena Vista, VA.
