Jeanne Rigaud passed away quietly on February 28, 2012 in Houston, TX, after a brief illness. Jeanne was born in Utica, New York on July 1, 1932, daughter of Hazel Allen Rigaud and Guy Pierre Rigaud (Guy Pollard Rego) of Spring Valley, NY. Jeanne received a B.A. from Barnard College (1953) and a masters degree in addiction from the University of Arizona (1976). Jeanne leaves two daughters, Heidi Wegryn Gross, Esq. and Tara Lee Wegryn M.D.; grandchildren, Halley Wegryn Gross, John Rex Potts IV and Dale Allen Potts; her sister, Jacqueline Leinbach; and nieces, Deborah Leinbach Kilner, Pastor Jeanne Leinbach Stewart and Linda Leinbach Mays. With David Briick was co-founder of numerous treatment facilities in the west including Meadows Treatment Center and Cottonwood Centers. In 1993, she was named Program Supervisor of Alcohol Treatment for the State of New Mexico. Jeanne is regarded as pioneer and leader in the treatment of substance abuse. Jeanne was a recovering alcoholic, with 39 years of sobriety at the time of her death. On Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. a funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, followed immediately by a celebration of her life in the Parish Hall. Jeanne will be buried at Rosario Cemetery privately.
