When he was about seven, he traveled with his parents by covered wagon to Tennessee. They returned to the Lake Shetek district of Minnesota a few months later.
In 1892 he married Carrie M Greenman at Currie. They took out a homestead near Rolette, ND. In 1912 they moved northeast of Plentywood and later moved to a farm near Whitetail. They lived there until 1945 when Mr. Willard retired and moved to Scobey.
After his wife died in 1955 Mr. Willard lived with a son, Ray, in Scobey.
Survivors are three sons, Roy of Bottineau, ND, Ray and Robert, both of Scobey, four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Marsh of Minot, Mrs. Francis Thomas of Seattle, WA, Mrs. Eva nelson of Middle River, MN, 40 grandchildren and about 120 great grandchildren.
