WITHEE - James Devine, 77, Route 1, Withee, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. He had been a patient there since Oct. 8. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard L. Fliss, pastor. Burial will be in Withee Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. There will be a parish rosary service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Devine was born March 2, 1899, at Glenwood City and married the former Ida Vanderwegen on June 15, 1926, at Withee. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year. He lived at Ladysmith untili the age of 9, when he came to Owen. He graduated from Owen High School and the Wausau Business College. He farmed and was a barber in the Owen-Withee area for more than 50 years, retiring in 1972. Survivors include his wife; nine sons, Robert, Withee, Peter, Owen, Burt, Menomonee Falls, Tom, Bloomer, Ted, Green Bay, David, Withee, Mike, Eleva, Pat, Eau Claire, and Dan of Bruce; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Theresa) Pawlak, Thorp, Mrs. Lyla (Janice) Johnson, Spencer, Mrs. Daniel (Marilyn) Brey, Abbotsford, and Mrs. John (Kathleen) Parker, Schofield; a brother, Howard, Owen; 63 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. A son and three brothers preceded him in death.
