This union was blessed with Mordecai, John F, Sampson, Nathan Randall, Lydia Cheshire, Mary A Rowan, Simon L, and Anthony Fleming Graves.
The three older brothers all served in NC 18th Inf, Company B, joining together in Elizabethtown in 1861. Mordecai and Sampson both perished in the war and Nathan R was blinded.
Our last sighting of Nathaniel was the 2nd day of June 1870 when he is listed in household #40 in the Bladenboro township right beside his son Nathan R Graves. Nathaniel was 67, Lucy 65 and living with them were Mordecai's daughters Virginia 11, and Lucy E 9.
He was by trade a cooper.
His grateful descendants honor him. Rest in peace.
