John Priest, son of Samuel Priest and Jane Padgett, was born March 9, 1798 in Wayne County, Kentucky and died June 19, 1866 in Wapello, Louisa, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Wilson on April 4, 1819 in Lawrence County, Alabama. He also married Nancy Greene on September 15, 1822 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Children: William Fletcher, Martha Caroline, wife of David C. Hunt, Malina, Nancy Margaret, wife of Hugh Kimpson, Catherine Kimpson, Michael G. Priest, George V. Joel A. Samuel B., and Sarah Elizabeth, wife of Webster Cross and Hugh Simpson
