STU HORSLEY RITES
SET ON FRIDAY
SALT LAKE CITY -- Funeral services for Golden Stewart (Stu) Horsley, 79, 442 Coalsville, Ave., Salt Lake City hospital following a long illness, will be held Friday at noon at 4330 S. Redwood Road.
Mr. Horsley was the relative of three Provoans.
He was born April 9, 1892, in Brigham City, a son of William Clements and Millisa [Melissa] Riggs Stewart Horsley. He married Erma Smoot on Oct. 8, 1914, in Salt Lake Temple.
Mr. Horsley was a veteran of World War I. He was a graduate of Utah State Agricultural College and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years. Active in the LDS Church, he was High Priest group leader in the Belvedere Ward at the time of his death. He had also served as drama director in the Second Ward. He was a member of the Oldtimers Club.
Survivors include his widow, Salt Lake City; one son and one daughter, Dr. George Smoot Horsley, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Don (Zella Sally) Hansen, Murray; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his stepmother, Mrs. Della Burt Horsley, Provo; four brothers and one sister, Shirley C. Horsley, Brigham City; Scott P. Horsley, Salt Lake City; Dr. Burt Horsley and Mrs. Ervin (Lillie) Davis, both of Provo.
Friends may call at 4330 S. Redwood Road Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
