Andrew Burt Horsley passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 in Provo, Utah. He resided at 260 East 400 North in Provo, Utah at the time of his death.




He was born to William Clements and Florence Adella Burt Horsley on Nov. 23, 1918 in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Box Elder High School and served an LDS mission to Germany. He married Faye McBride in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 18, 1940. They were the proud parents of three sons and two daughters. Education was important to our father. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Brigham Young University in Political Science and Philosophy, then his Ph D. in Philosophy and Doctor of Education from the University of Muenster in Germany. He was an observer at the Second Vatican Council in Rome in 1965 and has been on Sabbatical Research at the Vatican Library. Dad has twice been a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University. He was a member of the Commission for Study of the Swiss School System by appointment from the Ministry of Culture, North-Rhine-Westphalia. He enjoyed teaching many years at BYU and the church education system before retiring. Dad was a kind and gracious person to all that he met. He was a loving and Christ-like man who was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.




He is survived by three sons: Dee Clements Horsley, Raymon Burt Horsley II and John Franklin Horsley; two daughters: Christine (Dewane) Ivers and Linda (Doug) Cook; one brother, Raymon B. Horsley; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grand-children. He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye and five siblings.



Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Old Provo 5th Ward Chapel, 502 East 200 North, Provo. Friends may call on Wed. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the Services at the Church.
Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
