Mary Jane Vest Slagle, 94, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, April 24, 2004 in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
She was born February 16, 1910 in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late Will and Lillian Wheeler Vest.
She had been a housekeeper at Southern Seminary and was a member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Guy Slagle and sons, Arnold Slagle and Claude Slagle.
She is survived by her children: Wilton Lee Slagle, Robert Slagle, and Arlene Hayslett, all of Buena Vista; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren; a half-brother, Albert Vest of buena Vista; stepbrother, Rudolph Johnson of Buena Vista.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004 at the Lomax Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 25, 2004 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home.
