DEATH OF A SOLDIER. The funeral of Elmer Lawrence, a member of Co. A, Twentieth Kansas, will be held Friday forenoon at the home of relatives at Menoken.
Mr. Lawrence went to San Francisco with the Topeka company and was stricken with typhoid fever and invalided home. Last week acute appendicitis developed and an operation was performed at Christ hospital, but the fever had left him in such condition that his recovery was impossible.
The funeral will be attended by members of the Frank C. Armstrong post Spanish-American war veterans, who will fire a volley over the grave, the soldier's parting salute. Those who attend will meet at the office of A. M. Harvey, commander of the post, at 9 a. m.
