Dillard "Bub" Ballew, 95, of 104 Oakland Ave., widower of Virginia Kirby Ballew, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Hillcrest Hospital.
He was the son of the late James Malcolm and Ida Bishop Ballew. He was retired from Randolph Mills and was a member of Durbin Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Ballew was also a World War II veteran decorated with a Bronze medal.
Surviving are four daughters, Martha Brown, Jean Smith, Carolyn Garrison and Ivy Abbott, all of Simpsonville; two sons, Charles Ballew of Fountain Inn, and Kirby
Ballew of Simpsonville; three brothers, Paul Ballew of Greenville, Lewis Ballew of Fountain Inn, and Robert Ballew of Woodruff; two sisters, Ruth Brown of
Simpsonville, and Maude Mahaffey of Fountain Inn; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, May 22, 2001, at Cannon Funeral Home, Jones Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Abbott, Chuck Ballew, Claude Kirby Ballew Jr., Keith Ballew, Frankie Garrison and Ricky Smith. Mr. Ballew's granddaughters and remaining grandson will be an honorary escort.
Please omit flowers and make memorials to Hospice of the Greenville Hospital System, 255 Enterprise Blvd., Suite 140, Greenville, SC 29615; or Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605.
The family will be at the residence.
