Golden Edward Ballew, 84, widower of Willie Belle Hill Ballew, of 100 5th St., died Sunday, August 1, 1999 at home.
Born in Simpsonville, he was a son of the late James Malchom and Ida Bishop Ballew. He retired with 47 years of service as a weaver from Woodside Mill-Beattie Plant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in the Pacific
Campaign of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three sons, Bruce Ballew, Don Ballew, and Bobby Ballew, all of Fountain Inn; two daughters, Shirley Harris of Fountain Inn and Linda Cheek of Gray Court; four brothers, Dillard "Bub" Ballew of Simpsonville, Robert Ballew of Woodruff, Paul Ballew and Lewis Ballew, both of Greenville; two sisters, Maude Mahaffey of Fountain Inn and Ruth Brown of Simpsonville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cannon Funeral Home-Jones Chapel in Simpsonville, officiated by the Rev. James Brown and the Rev. John L. Smith. Burial will follow at Cannon Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at Cannon Funeral Home in Fountain Inn.
The family is at the home of Mr. Golden Ballew, 100 5th St., Fountain Inn.
