Meredith Bennett Claimed By Death; Rites Set Monday

Meredith P. Bennett, 73, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning in the Hinton Hospital following a heart attack. Mr. Bennett suffered the first attack at his home on Tug Creek Mountain Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock and was brought to the hospital later.

Mr. Bennett was born in Raleigh county near Madams Creek September 12, 1876 but had lived in this county for the last 50 years, where he was actively engaged in farming and sawmilling.

He was a member of the Bennett Tabernacle on Tug Creek Mountain.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the church with Rev. Willie Briers officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery on Tug Creek Mountain.

Besides the widow other survivors include four sons and eight daughters who are as follows:

Jacob. Alvah, Isaac and Abe Bennett, all of Hinton; Mrs. Ada Bragg of Brooks, Mrs. Bertha Bragg of Ramp, Mrs. Nerma Graham, Mrs. Carrie Graham, Mrs. Verma Adkins, Mrs. Zona Graham, Mrs. Hattie Sears all of Hinton, and Mrs. Dona Richmond of Hix.

Five step-children also survive. They are:

Mrs. Lillian Ray of Charleston, Mrs. Lucille Meadows, of Beaver, Mrs. Thelma McBride, Mrs. Margaret Bennett, and Kenneth Grimmett, all of Hinton.

The Ronald Meadows Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
