Elaine A. Zalewski, 78, Mosinee, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home.
She was born March 1, 1934, in Pella, the daughter of the late Edwin and Magdalena (Sousek) Adams. On Oct. 8, 1955, she married Felix Zalewski in Leopolis. He survives.
Elaine graduated from Marion High School and Mesicordia Nursing School. She was employed as a nurse for Milwaukee County General, a visiting nurse for Marathon County, and as head unit nurse at North Central Health Care, Wausau. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary, St. Monica's Circle and, although she couldn't sew a stitch, she coordinated making and delivering cancer caps. She also enjoyed shopping, rummage sales, reading romance novels and spending time with her family.
Survivors besides her husband, Felix Zalewski, Mosinee, include two sons, Phillip (Connie) Zalewski, Wausau, and Robert (Julie) Zalewski, Hortonville; a daughter, Kathleen (Bill) Steele, Madison; six grandchildren, Mary (Brad) McKeever and Lianne Zalewski, Kaylee and Brittany Zalewski, and Megan and Dana Steele; two great-grandchildren, Harleigh and Savannah McKeever; and 21 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oren, Allen and Robert Adams.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.
Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau,
