MURPHYSBORO — Lela Mary Williams, 77, of 2127 McCord St., died at 1:37 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 1988, in Jackson County Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Lutheran Church in Murphysboro. with burial in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Pettett Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Sallie Logan Public Library or the First Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Jackson County Nursing Home Auxiliary and the senior citizens club, all of Murphysboro. She also was the “Welcome Wagon” person for many years.
She was born Dec. 16, 1910, in Murphysboro, to George and Nellie (Jacobs) Boyer.
Lela Williams was a member of the Class of 1928 at Murphysboro Township High School.
She married Joe E. Williams in 1941. He died in 1983.
Survivors include one sister, Gertrude Hunter of Carterville.
One sister and four brothers also preceded her in death.
