COOKEVILLE - Funeral services for Earl Douglas Wheeler, 56, of Cookeville will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight and from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Wheeler died today, Aug. 31, 1998, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 14, 1942, in Jackson County to the late D.C. and Mary Ethel Flatt Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was a carpenter with Metropolitan-Davidson County City Government.
His family includes his wife, Dianne Presley Wheeler of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, John Christopher and Beth Urbanczyk Wheeler of Nashville; six brothers, Willie D., Garland D., Martin T. and Lewis E. Wheeler, all of Cookeville, Mack E. Wheeler of Lynnville and James C. Wheeler of Missouri; five sisters, Thelma Wheeler Clark, Clella Wheeler Wright, Veria Wheeler Swallows, Mary Wheeler Goolsby and Mae Wheeler Stults, all of Cookeville; a grandson, Willem Nicolaus Wheeler; two stepchildren, Krista and Scott Richmond, both of Cookeville; and his mother-in-law, Lois Presley of Cookeville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dow Wheeler.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Wheeler's brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lazarus House Hospice, 260 W. 5th St., Cookeville, TN 38501.
Bro. Glen McDoniel will officiate at the services.
