COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Willie Darvin Wheeler, 71, will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 16, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, Thursday, July 15; and from noon until time of services on Friday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Wheeler died on Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1932, in Jackson County to the late Daniel Clarence and Mary Ethel Flatt Wheeler.
He was employed at Teledyn Stillman Industries for many years.
His family includes his wife, Yvonne Wheeler; two daughters and sonsinlaw, Deborah and Larry Vinson of McMinnville, and Pamela and David Blackwell of Roswell, Ga.; four brothers, James Carl, Garland Dee, Lewis Edward and Mack Wheeler; five sisters, Thelma Clark, Clella Marie Wright, Isla Mai Stults, Vera Swallows and Mary Goolsby; three grandsons and wife, Derek and Miranda Vinson, and Justin and Kenneth Blackwell; a granddaughter and fiancé, Erica Vinson and Mickey Ralph; and his stepmother,
Opal Wheeler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Willie Wheeler Jr.; and three brothers, Martin Truman, Earl Douglas and Dow Wheeler.
