b. September 1884, Putnam Co., TN – d. 12 February 1955, md Nettie (Goodpasture) Davis. William Cleveland Davis Sr., s/o Henry Polk Davis & Lydia Ann Solomon.

Funeral Monday For W. C. Davis, 70, Retired Merchant:
Funeral services for William Cleveland Davis, 70, retired merchant, who died Saturday, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Cumberland Presbyterian church with Rev. Scott Johnson, Rev. A. D. Salisbury, Jr. and the Rev. John S. Snith officiating. Burial was in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Carver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis retired in 1948 as a partner in Davis, Mott, and Son, a wholesale poultry and egg farm. He was a native of Cookeville, a charter member of the Cookeville Rotary Club and a deacon and trustee of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. His parents were Henry P. and Lydia Soloman Davis, early Cookeville residents.
Survivors include his widow, Mr. Nettie Goodpasture Davis; a son, W. C. Davis, Jr., Cookeville; and a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Burroughs, Macomb, Illinois, and two grandchildren, Hugh and Kathlyn Ann Burroughts of Macomb.
