Margaret Garteski of St. Charles dies
ST. CHARLES -- Margaret L. Garteski, 75, of St. Charles, a longtime St. Charles homemaker, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 1992) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A sister preceded her in death.
Margaret L. Mart was born on Feb. 17, 1917, in Fairmont, Minn. In September 1946, she married Albert Garteski in Minneapolis and they lived in Minneapolis until moving to St. Charles in 1960. She had been employed in Minneapolis. Her husband died in 1986.
Survivors include a son, Terry of rural St. Charles; a daughter, Gloria (Mrs. Van) Walters of Colchester, Vt.; three brothers, Francis Mart of Lewiston and Clinton and Earl Mart, both of Armstrong, Iowa; and five sisters, Marie Bloomstrom of Fairmont, Helen Grabianowski, Shirley Wagner and Jerry Helgeson, all of Armstrong, Iowa, and Phyllis Goodnature of Garner, Iowa
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Cook officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
