SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Lawrence P. "Hop" Stanley, 84, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah.
Mr. Stanley was a service station attendant at various locations and was a door-to-door salesman for L.B. Price Mercantile in St. Joseph and Kansas.
Born in Horton, Kan., on Jan. 7, 1915, he lived in St. Joseph since 1943 and later moved to a health-care center in Savannah. He was a Protestant.
On May 18, 1938, he married Stella M. Hixson in Hiawatha, Kan. She survives in Savannah.
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ruby; five brothers, Joseph, Harry, John, Sherman and Donald; and a sister, Frances Stanley.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Donna L. Davis, Savannah, and Kay Leidy, St. Joseph; two brothers, Daniel C., Kansas City, and Jackie M., Seattle; a sister, Louise Gilliland, Seattle; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
