Daniel W. Stanley, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away January 10, 2008 at his home. He was born on May 24, 1929 in Horton, Kansas, the son of Daniel and Ruby Kenady Stanley. After graduating from Horton High School he served in the U.S. Air force from 1947-1951. Daniel worked as a machinist for the Bendix Corporation for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Machinist Union for 45 years. On February 8, 1949 he married Patricia L. Mell in Leavenworth, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2005. Survivors include five sons, Stephen Stanley of Eugene, Oregon, Richard Stanley of Orlando, Florida, Michael Stanley of Clearwater, Florida, William Stanley of Eugene, Oregon and George Long of Durango, Colorado; one brother, Jack Stanley of Seattle, Washington; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, John, Jim, Joe, Don, Lawrence and Sherman Stanley and two sisters, Frances Stanley and Louise Gilliland. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to services.
